Position Summary

The Research & Messaging Associate will report to the Senior Knowledge and Research Manager, playing a pivotal role in crafting and testing content that resonates with and influences our audience of moderate women. This position entails leading qualitative research projects, enhancing research-informed programming, and promoting the integration of research findings throughout the organization to ensure cohesive strategy implementation.

Key responsibilities include managing the testing and evaluation of messages and ads that further the digital initiatives of Galvanize USA and Galvanize Action, conducting qualitative data analysis, aiding in the interpretation of complex data, and facilitating the application of research insights across various teams.

The Associate will benefit from the expertise of experienced researchers, partners, and vendors within the social justice sector. They will receive support to identify and leverage their unique skills and contributions, thereby driving forward the mission of the organization.

Responsibilities and Tasks 

Support Message Development and Analysis:

  • Lead the operationalization of the testing program—development, fielding, and initial analysis— in collaboration with the Campaigns team, guided by the Sr. Knowledge and Research Manager. 
  • Design effective messaging frameworks that positively influence the target audience towards prosocial stances.
  • Oversee the maintenance and updates of the messaging library and testing database.
  • Conduct initial analysis of messaging effectiveness to refine communication strategies.

Opposition Message Analysis:

  • Monitor and test opposition messages to understand and counteract potential impacts on our programming.

Qualitative Project Management:

  • Serve as the project manager on qualitative research projects, including working with the Sr. Knowledge and Research Manager to develop project scope, budget, and research design.
  • Manage vendor relationships and coordinate the implementation and initial analysis of qualitative projects.

Audience Understanding & Knowledge Socialization:

  • Work closely with the Sr. Knowledge and Research Manager to track and evaluate audience understanding across research projects and key issues.
  • Analyze open responses from surveys to better understand attitudes of our target audience.
  • Support the Sr. Knowledge and Research Manager with creation of decks and resources to socialize research learnings across the full organization.

Administration & Team Support:

  • Support administrative and operations needs with research vendors and consultants on as needed basis.
  • Provide timely and relevant support of data requests for specialized research projects and external use cases.
  • Miscellaneous 
    • All employees of Hopewell Fund are required to complete timesheets
    • Performs other duties as needed

Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Ability   

We are seeking candidates who are excited about growing their research skills, lead with curiosity and critical thinking, and are passionate about unlocking the power of women to advance progress for all. You should have:

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum two years experience in qualitative and applied research
  • Excellent writing and verbal communications skills
  • Extremely well organized and detail oriented
  • Experience with various methods of qualitative research, including focus groups and in-depth interviews
  • Experience in developing and/or testing messages for campaigns in a non-profit or political context
  • Ability to parse and understand research and public opinion data in a pragmatic, real world, and actionable way, and to translate data for different levels of audience understanding
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, work well under pressure and deadlines, and manage multiple priorities and projects effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to build sound relationships with staff at all levels and to provide input where and when appropriate
  • Ability to effectively work remotely

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Flexibility to adjust and contribute to continually evolving work and changing priorities
  • Proficient in Google suite products
  • Mixed-methods research experience and ability to understand statistical data

Valued and Non-Essential Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Ability 

  • Background in crafting impactful communications tailored to a targeted audience
  • Understanding of behavioral psychology and/or behavioral science
  • Experience with R

Compensation & Benefits

The starting salary range for this position is $60k - $70k. Placement within this band will be determined based on years of prior experience and relevant skills. Galvanize USA also offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance for employees (and their families). Employees are able to enroll in the 401k retirement plan and are eligible for a 3% automatic contribution and up to a 3% employer match on 401k contributions. Employees are also eligible for pre-tax transportation benefits. Employees will receive 120 hours of vacation time, 80 hours of health leave, up to 2 days of casual leave, and 20 hours of volunteer leave annually. Employees will also receive 13 paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are eligible for 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave after 90 days of employment.
